Almaguin Highlands OPP launch Mobile Crisis Response Team
The Almaguin Highlands OPP has teamed up with the Muskoka-Parry Sound Canadian Mental Health Association and the B’saanibamaadsiwin Indigenous Mental Health Program to introduce a Mobile Crisis Response Team.
This initiative pairs Constable Herrington with Crisis Worker Brian Choate to provide specialized support for individuals in crisis. While police ensure safety, the crisis worker helps de-escalate situations and offers immediate mental health support.
The team will also conduct proactive check-ins, connecting individuals with resources before a crisis occurs. Officials say this partnership will improve safety and lead to better outcomes for the community.
