About the Host:
I grew up in a family of renowned artists and creative individuals. At an early age I came to understand the essence of art, its amazing potential, and the ability to heal that lay beneath it.
Although I was an outgoing child with a real spirit and enthusiasm for life, I experienced great difficulty when it came to expressing my emotions. My father, who among many things was a beautiful artist and photographer, surprised me on my 10th birthday with a camera. Without intention my father had provided me with the key to unlocking my creativity and emotions. The camera quickly became my means of expression.
With a passion for photography and an innate desire to help others, I went on to obtain an Honors B.F.A. in Still Photography and an Honors Master's Level Diploma in Art Therapy.
Prior to my becoming an Art Therapist I owned and operated a children';s photography camp called CAMP CAMERA. It was this experience that fueled my desire to further my education and combine my passion for photography and my desire to help others into a successful Art & Photo Therapy Practice.
I have spent the better part of 20 years working with clients in childcare facilities, schools, multidisciplinary centres, hospitals and first nation reserves. I specialize in Photo Therapy and have perfected the use of photographs, film, and projected imagery in therapy with clients struggling with low self-esteem and confidence. I have been blessed with the opportunity to help many recognize their self-worth, the gifts they possess and the potential that life holds for them.
